No Laptop= Bad | Camp= Awesome

I’m back. Still no laptop. Camp was awesome! It is so neat to see God use something that so many people discredit. I saw hope in these teenagers live. I ask that you pray for campers all over the country and the affect camp made in their lives and the seeds planted.

Tonight, I’m giving a talk or a message, whatever you want to call it. We are teaching the 7 Checkpoints during our Wed. Night program, DownTime. For your program for your community and crowd students this is an excellent idea to give them the 7 most important biblical topics. Check out the book. Back to what I’m teaching. We are talking about Real Faith. Our main text will be Hebrews 11:1 and we will also examine Joseph’s life and faith (Gen. 37 - 45) and the rest of Hebrews 11 (Noah, Abraham’s, Moses and the Israelites faith). As I was looking at how to end the message I moved past the chapter line and found Hebrews 12:2&3. This is way cool stuff.

Laptop Broke

Yesterday was a bad day. The hard drive on Apple Ibook got the click of death and died. It looks like I’m going to have to work on a Windows computer for about a week. I lost a good bit, luckly I backed up some stuff and have other stuff backed up from earlier. Oh, well such is life. I just have to remind my self it is a computer and that I’ll be alright.

Business of Life and Ministry

It has been a while since I have made time to write a post. I’m gearing up for camp next (no new posts next week), finishing up two websites for church, writing messages for our new Wednesday night Jr. and Sr. High program and having lots of company. I like feel the Motel 6.

I have really enjoyed writing these messages. It really stretches me to think creatively and makes it harder to like as a stagnant Christian. I am finishing up a message on Purpose. I have been search as you know if you read my blog and feel that God has laid a vision on me and the Student Ministry that I’m a part of. This message first talks about the five biblical purposes we see in the New Testament, then we tackle how they relate to us here at Islands and in the Student Ministry. My ultimate goal is to help students realize their potential and use the talents God has given them to build His earthly kingdom. As Caedmon’s Call says to be a bus driver. The last point I make with my students is that they have two choices (1) get on board, catch the vision or (2) be replaced, we will extend the gospel to other students and they will carry the torch for the ministry. My friend and I were talking about that point and he reminded me of Lk 19:39-40 the verse about if we won’t speak about God the stones will. Think about it, will the stones have to cry our for you?
