The Secret Art of the White Tiger

The title of Chapter 4 in Understanding God’s Will by Kyle Lake almost sounds like a line from Napoleon Dynamite, The Secret Government Ninga Moves of the White Liger. Anyways, Kyle Lake is moving is good direction so far in this book. I agree with him about the fact that following God’s will more than a equation, which is good becasue I am no math wiz. At least part of God’s will is wrapped up in following God. Lake, applies the anology of a sensei (think karate) to apperntice (don’t think Donald Trump). I am following along pretty well. Its an enjoyable read, not boring or drawn out. I’ll keep you posted.

Give us clean hands and Give us pure hearts

I have had the worship song, “Give us clean hands and give us pure hearts” stuck in my head for about a month now. I find myself singing it in my head all the time. Part of my on going inner dialog. As I am reading Matt. 5 this afternoon I came across verses 6 and 8. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness and Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God. Isn’t asking God for a clean hnads and a pure heart seeking righteousness? Will we not get a glempse of God through our seeking. Won’t He reveal Himself to us as He shows us what is righteous and pure? I am just thinking of these as I read this passage and the song again pops into my head.

David answers the question who will ascend on the hill of the Lord, who will see Him. Ps. 24: 4 says, “He who has clean and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol.”

God’s Will

Like Tony Morgan I have begun reading “Understanding God’s Will” by Klye Lake. I sent a copy to my best friend a few months ago because he had begun to ask where God was leading him. I had bought two copies but I leant the other copy to a young woman in our church who was asking the same question. But she has never been back since our converstaion and so I had to order another copy. As I just finished the first section of the book about the Myth of God and His Will Lake says,

“An alternative is long overdue, an alternative that always places relationships with God at the center of all of our realities. We need an alternative that never elevates God’s will above God. And we need an alternative that leaves us feeling as though we’ve returned to the heart of scripture and historical Christianity, not an alternative that leaves us guessing whether the Scriptures would echo the same.”

The Spurs WON!

I have been a Spurs fan for sometime. I keep it to myself, mainly because I don’t watch a whole bunch of sports all the time. I watch the standings in the paper and silently cheer for my few favorite teams. This Finals Series was one of the best I have watched. So much defence. Two great teams. It was just so nice to watch two well matched teams duke it out for a title. I enjoy sports and think that sports are at their best when it is like that.

Anniversary

Tomorrow I will have been married to my wife for 5 years. I can’t believe that it has been 5 years. Time has just flown by. It has been neat for us to look back on these 5 years and talk about our goals and dreams and where God has taken us.

We are headed to Atlanta tomorrow afternoon. I booked a 4 star hotel and got a great price. We are going to the Braves & Orioles game tomorrow night. Go O’s. And then we are headed to Stone Mountain on Saturday.

Talk to you all when we get back.

Prayer

I come to all who read this blog and find it by accident for prayer. There are times in our life that having others pray for specific needs for you even people you don’t know is very powerful, as we all know.

I come in need of wisdom, peace and for God to show us what He has in store for us. I thank you for prayers and thoughts. Please let me know if I can return the favor.

I’ve been at camp

I returned from camp on Friday and it dawned on me that I should have left a message on my blog like I left on my office voicemail. Anyways, I’m back and back to blogging.

Camp was amazing. It was good for me. Sometimes you need to be be recharged by others. I was totally amazed by the way that God moved among these Sr. High students. You could see lives changed. Their eyes were opened to God’s way of life and were so open to making the change. It was great. It was what I needed. I have been battling with the fact that at the ministry that we currently serve we maybe only planting seeds. I covered that topic a little while ago. There was nothing fancy about the camp or the worship. But worship was great, the messages hit home, and the kids responded. With God’s help we made a ripple in history, made the devil mad, and strengthen the kingdom of God.

Poverty

I have been to Haiti twice now. I have seen object poverty. It haunts my soul and I remember the pictures in my mind often. I was moved the other night by an ABC news story (which doesn’t happen often) of Brad Pitt and his effort to fight not only poverty and hunger but also HIV/ AIDS in Africa. Now I know that I don’t agree with him on politics but this is greater than that. These are real people in a terrible situation that we can’t even imagin. U2’s music is awsome but I am constantly brought back to it because of the message it bring and also the message that Bono brings out side of it. Christians listen up, our feet are being put to the fire and we need act out what we call our faith. James calls faith with out actions useless. It is time to stand up and do something it about it. Go online and look up site that are giving you a way to step out and do something. I have two links on my blog now. One at the top left corner and one one on the left side a little ways down. Click on them and read the info on the and get involved. Also visit DATA this is Bono’s work and it is great there is a section called your action center and it is filled with all kinds of great resources and even resources to use in church. Check it out.
