Dudes

I have been thinking for the last week or so about the church for guys, you know what I mean make the church a place guys would want to come, be, worship and bring their families. I was reading Bruce Chant’s blog a about a week ago and saw that they are starting a new small group for guys called Fight Club. Man what a great idea a small group targeted at guys no talk about building community (cause guys don’t understand what you mean but put them in a room with a leader who has a few guide rails and they will achieve community), no talk about who will bring refreshments and no sign up lists. I really hope they succeed. To further God’s tug on me about this subject, I downloaded some Acts 29 Bootcamp messages recommended by Jonathan Herron (I didn’t think I would like Driscoll based on what others have said like he’s cocky, hates women (ok maybe just women leaders) and some other things). But I listened to a message by MK about lead pastor’s, he calls them dudes. He had some great stuff to say about if we will ball up and be the men that God has called us to be and model it in our lives and talk about it in our messages not only would more men come to our services but also would we have happier women in our churches. If we model strong manhood to our congregation we will have stronger men Christ-followers but also stronger families (which is worth its own weight in gold) but also stronger leaders in out churches, in the workplace and less sea foam flowering looking churches. The last part is supposed to be funny.

A last little bit from the lead pastor message was that he says their are two things guys planting churches need not touch their secretaries and they money. Nough said.

ebible.com & 3 invites

I have been meaning to post that I have 3 invites to ebible.com. If you are looking to get into the beta leave a comment and I’ll send one your way. Obiviously its only good for the first 3 commentors.

Now my take on ebible.com. I really like the social aspects of ebibe.com. The ability to tag verses or whole chapters for others to see and use is really cool. To be able to bookmark verses you are studing can give you an upper hand for preparing for messages in advance. So far so good, could use some enhancements but I’m sure they are coming espacially with its popularity already. Chris Marsden has a some good things to say about it too so check out his post.
