Its late and my head hurts from packing but I wanted to drop into the blogosphere to say that today is finally here and we are moving to De Leon Springs and I start my new ministry on Tuesday the 2nd of January, 2007 and Christian Church of De Leon Springs. We pack the truck early tomorrow and make the relatively short drive over and start the unpacking process.

I’ve never really felt that God wanted to use me to teach from behind the pulpit on Sunday Mornings. The whole two and a half years at Islands I never taught on Sunday Mornings. At Beachside either. But a part of the interviewing process at Christian Church at DeLeon Springs I had to teach and now I’ve been asked to teach the first Sunday of the year, which also happens to be my first Sunday. Four years ago I would never had been excited about this but now its pretty cool.

The new teaching minister at Central Christian Church in Ocala, my home church, starts at the beginning of January also and is starting with a new series called “New Beginnings” and I decided to use that idea as my topic also for January 7th. I am thinking about contrasting the new beginnings offered to Abram in Genesis 12 and the Israelites after God frees them from Egyptian slavery in Exodus 12. Mainly contrasting how the Israelite’s complained and wanted to turn around and go back and how even though Abram sinned (which we all do) he followed God and pushed on to the new beginning God had for him and his family. I’ll let you know how it ends up, the message that is not the stories, obviously.

Last night we went to see Mat Kearney at House of Blue’s in Orlando, FL. He rocked, even if only played 5 songs! In concert he’s a little more hip/ hop and spoken word, which is really cool. We were hoping that he would come out but we couldn’t stand Ace Young any more so we left. We walked around and were walking back toward HOB when he came walking out a back door. He stopped and talked with us for a minute and told us about a VH1 tapping he is doing in Orlando in the spring. I know I’ll be there.

I’m so excited! Chris and I are going to see Mat Kearney in concert at Orlando House of Blues this Friday night. I have really dug his music since his first album, Bullet and now Nothing Left to Loose . I bought his Nothing Left to Loose a couple of months ago and it really spoke and ministered to me. Some of his new songs like Wait and All I Need. All of his stuff is great. I especially like the messages in Girl America and What’s A Boy To Do.

We found out today that we got the final conformation from the congregation at Christian Church at De Leon Springs, FL has called us to be their Youth Minister. We start at the first of the year. We are so excited for this journey to be over and back in full time youth ministry. Thank you to everyone that prayed for us and encouraged us along the way.
